Currently we meet once or twice a week. Our goal is expand once we secure a permanent facility that will give us the flexibility to meet more frequently. We provide a range of enrichment activities and events that our friends can participate in, such as recreation, art and cooking.  Visit the News-Events page for an overview of our current available activities.

We hope our events and day program will serve as respite time for caregivers. However, we know that sometimes caregivers need additional relief. We do offer respite care for Friends currently involved in our enrichment activities. Respite care requires prior approval and one-on-one family meetings to determine scope of care.  

We are located in Van Zandt County. Our current enrichment classes are held in Canton at Lakeside Baptist and Crossroads Baptist, as well as a few other venues. We are in the process of planning for a permanent facility where all our classes will be held. 

Sharon’s Place is for adults with intellectual disabilities that are 18 years and older. Periodically we offer events that are open to a younger age group.

Sharon’s Place offers a range of activities at no cost – based on the generosity of our donors – along with fee-based classes. Fees will be posted at the time of scheduling activity and events. Our goal is to minimize fees for our Friends, so that cost does not hinder participation. Scholarships are available as funding permits.

Our goal is to keep admission costs very low by helping to cover the gap between operational costs and what we charge.

Not at this time. We hope to acquire a multi-passenger van at some point so we are able to help our Friends with transportation to/from local classes and activities.

Timing and plans are contingent on securing land and raising the funds to cover the cost of building the home, as well as funds to ensure sustainability. Once land is secured we will begin taking applications for residency.
